I am Marc Hershon, your every-other-weekly-host for Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. You’ve latched into Episode 264. If you were looking for Epi263, that was last week’s installment with our alternating host Tyson Saner. Entitled “Flippin; Hot Summer Clips”, it featured snippets from comedy soundcasts Pretending With Dice, I Said No Gifts!, and Doughboys. You can grab it from Apple or Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Audible, Soundcloud or our own homesite, at SuccotashShow.com.
I’m dispensing with clips for this week’s show to, instead, chat up an old friend and former roommate of mine, a longtime San Francisco standup comedian, a former TV reporter, and now a painter, too: Mark Pitta! Mark moved from the Bay Area to Las Vegas last year, a month before the pandemic lockdown and we catch up on all sorts of things, including what he’s watching, what’s pissing him off, how comedy has changed in recent years, and some show biz anecdotes.
Mark and I chatted a long time so you’re getting a double-stuffed episode of Succotash this time around. Plus we have a new feature at the end of the show – since no one seems too excited about calling the Succotash Hotline these days, we’re expanding the use of that number – (818) 921-7212 – and it is now the Succotash & Runaway Trunk Ramp Hotline. We’ll see if anyone has any status updates on the runaway truck ramps on the highways around America.
This episode is brought to you by Henderson’s Pants new Sleepover Slacks, a great pair of pants to be pairing if your significant other, roommates, or parents toss you out on your ass.
Thanks again to Mark Pitta for jumping into the Succotash with us. You can see his paintings on Instagram at @MarkPitta and you can find his videos on YouTube by searching for his name: M-a-r-k P-i-t-t-a.
Here’s the link to the Burt Reynolds tribute video we ere talking about during the show.
Tyson Saner will be here next week for Episode 265 so join us again then, won’t you? We may actually be a day late dropping that show as I will be out of town for a few days and that’s my job, damn it!
In the meantime, time to mask up again to do battle with the Delta Variant so don’t be a creep – if you haven’t vaxxed up yet, what the hell? I don’t want to plague-shame anyone but it IS directly YOUR fault this whole thing is dragging out. Does that make you feel important? (Note to self: "Whoa. Calm down, Marc!" Self: "Okay. You’re right.") Let me just say that if anyone asks if you’re heard anything good lately, won’t you please just pass them the Succotash?
– Marc Hershon
