Thank you, friendly reader-could-be-listener. At least I’ll take it as given that you’re friendly. I’m Marc Hershon, your guide and every-other-weekly host here on Succotash, THE Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. (Quick catchup for the noobs: A “soundcast” is just like a “podcast”, just not trapped in the past with that old, outmoded iPod technology stuck in the name.)
And this show most often plays clips from other comedy soundcasts. Like last week, for example. If you missed it, our lovely alternating host, Tyson Saner, in Episode 267, blazed through a triple play of clips in a show entitled, ironically, “Blazin’ Through A Triple Play.” A show that featured Screams and Moans, The Goods From The Woods, and Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster. You can still scoop that edition up from anywhere and everywhere soundcasts are found – Apple and Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Podcast FM, PodBay, and so on. If all else fails, you can always just siphon it from our show’s homesite, http://SuccotashShow.com.
This week I have no clips to share with you. Instead, I’ll be doing the thing we often do here on the show – chatting it up with a person who is a comedian, an actor, a musician, and who is no stranger to podcasting. He had his own for a while, as a matter of fact. He’s been in movies, on TV, and on the standup comedy stage for what will be 50 years around next year sometime. A longtime buddy of mine, and a longtime friend of the show – his first appearance was on Episode 6, which dropped 10 year and 2 months ago – it’s none other than Rick Overton!
Rick’s got a comedy rap sheet as long as your arm, with lots of memorable roles in films like Groundhog Day, Beverly Hills Cop, Blind Fury, and many more. You can catch his latest effort from the comfort of your own home: Rick Overton’s Set List. It’s a great hour of one-man improvisation with the compelling set-up from the Set List format. Basically Rick, at the top of his game, thinking on his feet as premises are thrown at him with no time to prepare.
So Ricky keeps getting these weird premises put up a screen during the show and he instantly has to start riffing material off of them. Head over to ComedyDynamics.com to find a list of places where you can stream the show.
This episode of Succotash is brought to you by our longtime sponsor Henderson's Pants new "Peer Sucker Pants"!
Hope you enjoy my visit with my buddy, Rick. I know you’re going to dig my compadre Tyson’s clip-filled foray into comedy soundcasting for next week’s Epi269. And, in the meantime, be sure to mask up, vax up, and try to remember that science isn’t trying to kill you, it just can’t help itself. And if you know someone that really could catch a clue as to which comedy soundcasts they should start listening to, try passing them the Succotash!

This week, I've got clips from the soundcasts Screams and Moans, The Goods From The Woods, and Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster. There's also a classic Henderson's Pants advert for their patented Pain Pants kicking around somewhere in the rotation so y'all have got that to look forward to as well. (Real sponsors take note, we are in the market for one or more of you…as we have been for 10+ years.) Anyway, thank you for listening…
I’m calling this week’s installment “Soundcastin’ with a Capital B”, and it’s what we call a “hybridcast”: part clips, part chat, plus a special visit from our esteemed booth announcer
This week I have a trio of clips for you from the soundcasts Salty Language, A Hot Dog is a Sandwich, and Don't Ask Tig…and of course this episode contains a classic advertisement from our longtime fake sponsor Henderson's Pants for their celebrated Down Under Pants.
I’m dispensing with clips for this week’s show to, instead, chat up an old friend and former roommate of mine, a longtime San Francisco standup comedian, a former TV reporter, and now a painter, too:
